Microsoft XP, Home Edition Install

I haven't been able to install the drivers for my HP 820
printer. The install new printer doesn't work, no
options, get error message. I tried reinstalling XP. It
went through the process and near the end of loading, it
restarted. It won't complete the process. It keeps
restarting. I've turned off the computer and restarted,
same problem. I went into bios and changed my primary
boot to my CD drive. I've tried to start in the safe
mode, but cannot. It keeps recycling restart. WHAT'S UP?

Ensure that you are not pressing a key when your computer restarts during
the installation process. If you press a key then the CD will boot. Just let
it pass the installation to the files that have been copied to the hard
drive.

After the first restart you have to allow the computer to boot from the hard
drive. Don't press any keys to make it boot from the CD.

Did the printers' docs tell you to use the "install new printer"
function?

There are no drivers for those other than the generic deskjet one
supplied as part of the system. With XP up and running, plug the
printer in Hot and let New Hardware do the best it can - it should find
those generic ones, maybe asking for your XP CD (so have that in the
drive first, and include it in the search New Hardware will make)
