For as long as I can remember, MS Word has been my email editor; checking
spelling and performing a lot of time-saving functions as I compose and
review emails. For some reason, it has stopped performing editing functions
in Outlook. I no longer have auto-correct and misspelled words aren't
spotted at the time I type them, etc.

Now the strange thing is that when I boot up and open Outlook, when I click
to open my first email message, it says starting MS Word as your Outlook
editor. It's never shown this communication UNTIL the time that the
connection to Word seems to have failed.

In case it matters; I'm running MS Office 2003 on a Dell Laptop with 4 gigs
of ram and plenty of h/d space left. The only rule I have loaded into
Outlook is "if a message is addressed to me, move it from the enterprise
server to my h/d."

Thanks

So out of curiosity, what is your question?

Other than that and I had to guess based on your comments, there is a known
issue that right after installing Office 2003 SP3, that auto-correct stops
working in Outlook 2003. You have to turn on Word as your e-mail editor to
get it back or apply another hotfix to get the functionality back if you
wish to continue using Outlook's built-in editor.

The latest hotfix package for Outlook 2003 SP3 is:
