microsoft word document is locked

My microsoft word will not let me type anything. It says that the document is
locked. I try to type and make changes to other documents and it will not
let me. A screen comes up and ask for a key pad number. i don't know what to
do. I typed on it before without using one.

I would suggest that you ask this question in a Word newsgroup; this
newsgroup is for a different program, the database software Microsoft
Access.

Please scroll down the list of newsgroups and find an appropriate one
for Word. You'll get expert advice there.
