I followed your suggestions but I still have the issue with IE / Explorer
and
Outlook. Only one person can open than at anytime and the other user
accounts
get the runtime errors. Did you find any other causes on your travels
since?

What is the exact error message you are getting?

I'm getting what looks to be the same error that people are reporting as
being due to the old version of the Google toolbar. It says "Runtime Error!
Program c:\progam files\internet explorer\ieplore.exe. This application is
requesting the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the
applications support team for more information"

I did have the old tool bar installed as a part of the build. Its a new Dell
and it cam pre-installed. I have removed that and the Google Desktop plus
disabled any browser extensions listed in IE's Add ons. What I have found is
that onky one user account on the machine can run IE at any time. If you
switch accounts and try and run IE in another users profile this is the error
you get. Sadly the issue gets worse though as I get explorer / taskbar
restart suddenly each day and Outlook XP is now unstable. because its more
than just IE having a bad time here I'm not sure its the same issue. Do you
have any ideas / suggestions worth trying?

It appears to be normal that only one user profile can be using IE. As for
the part after that I don't know

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced and uncheck "Enable third party
browsing enhancements".

Thanks for that Frank. That enabled me to get to the troubled extension a lot
faster as there was a lot in there to play with. For the record for anyone
else trying this the root cause of what has been stopping me running IE in
more than one users account at the same time turns out to be McAfee. By
disabling the AntiPhishing filter (Browser Helper Object) was able to get IE
working for everyone again. That leads me to think that the reason why
Windows Explorer and Outlook are also unstable is probably down to the same
app. I'll put this to McAfee and if I get something back from them thats more
than just remove / reinstall I'll post it here for everyone to know

Thanks
Steve

Turn Off all anti-phishing software (McAffee and in IE7 under each separate
User). Worked well for me.

Hi,
Please provide more information.
Which version of Windows?
Which version of Internet Explorer?
Which e-mail provider?
Did the problem start after installing or updating a security program?
