i-explorer doesn't start up

I have since yesterday been unable to start i-explorer. I run XP service pack
2 with all updates. I get the following message.
Any ideas?

The pop-up window includes the following:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime library
Runtime Error!
Program : C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Uninstall the Google toolbar.

I get the same error message. I can run i-explorer just fine in other
accounts, but mine wont run. So the fix is to un-install the google toolbar.
Can it be re-installed later?

Some have reported that reinstalling it after restarting the computer does
not bring the problem back.
