Almost daily,I receive notices about update notices. It looks like official
Microsoft messages. I have saw where Microsoft does not send these
messages, that they send update notices directly to your computer only. What
is going on? Thanks in advance.

If you get them thru email, then they are viruses and should be immediately
deleted. MS doesn't send attachments or updates via email.

A nasty worm is what's going on. If you run the attachments, your
computer starts sending these things to everybody on your address
list. The messages that are sent contain forged "From:" lines to make
them seem to come from Microsoft. Delete them as soon as you see them.
MS *never* sends updates as executable attachments.

Thanks for the information. The attachments are blocked from viewing by Win
XP filter. If they continue to arive I will go to the MS address you
provided and do as MS advises. Thank you,

Bert
