Microsoft Up-date(MVP)

At the Microsoft up-date website they had an up-date for
the CD burner. It said something about The High-Mat
Definition. (I don't remember exactly what it said but it
sounded good)
The CD/DVD player I bought (is being shipped so I don't
have it yet) It claims it's new?
Say's it plays DVD,CD,DVD-R/RW,DVD-R/DVD-RW,CD-
R/RW,VCD,SVCD and MP3 dics. I don't know much about all
this but out of all these this machine still won't play
what I make with my Movie Maker?
Tell me it isn't so!
I thought with the extra new up-date of the High-Mat
Definition improvement it would make the CD's I burn as
close as DVD's, as far as how they look and play.
Weren't you the MVP who said, why buy a DVD program when
next year they will have a Sony's out that will play
these?
Is this the DVD/CD player that plays multiple formats the
one you were talking about or is there another one?
Thanks, lorie

Lorie,

The CD Burning... General page of my website has a picture of the 3 HighMAT
logos that you will run into, and the one at the bottom that includes video
(WMV files) isn't on any of the players in the stores yet.

The software download to burn HighMAT discs isn't what we are waiting for.
It's the players with that added feature.. the ability to play Video (WMV)
files.

Here's part of the intro paragraph from the HighMAT website just a few
seconds ago: "At this time, our HighMAT-compatible Panasonic products have
HighMAT Level 2 functionality which includes compatibility only with audio
files and JPEG still image files.-- "

Yes, see the second line of the reference says that you can playback on a
PC. It doesn't refer also to a DVD player.

We've been waiting all year for the first such player to be released. Not
yet.
