microsoft sidewinder force feeedback

when trying to install my microsoft force feedback
joystick(windows xp) in control panel/game
controller /add mode it gives me a msg "your gameport or
gameport drivers are not properly configured,please
consult device manager". Iam selecting microsoft
sidewinder auto detect. any help please.

You need to update the drivers for the game port itself, Al, whether it is
on a sound card or part of the motherboard. Track down the latest drivers
for the sound card or your motherboard and get them installed, then do the
controller install as you're doing.
