Microsoft Search sucks.

a testament to the mightless power of Microsoft Search, follow this link
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/default.aspx

and click on the "Internet Explorer" from the left menu "Popular
Downloads".. it will produce a"Sorry, no results were found" For Internet
Explorer 7. How convienient.

I wish they did buy Yahoo just so they had a better search engine,
seriously, its horrible. It never produces decent results or sometimes none
at all as PROVED up top.
Google provides more accurate hits for MS products using "site:microsoft.com".
I was hoping the new Windows Search 4 would be an improvement on Windows
Desktop Search but its kinda ugly and slow, it indexes constantly with
limited options (I have 4 HDD's with over a terabyte, so it never seems to
stop). If I wanted depleted options I wouldve bought a MAC.

My question is this: When will Microsoft search stop sucking?

you failed to see the point, click on this
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?pocId=6&freetext=Internet Explorer 7&DisplayLang=en

its the link from the page I linked to earlier... its a microsoft.com
download search for IE7, and it finds nothing.

Im happy with the OLD windows search, it finds files just fine. I just dont
like indexers running constantly and using all my CPU. I like WS 4.0's find
as you type functions though, I just have too many files and not good enough
hardware for it to work fast enough.

Not that the native XP search is anything to crow about either.

If I want to make sure that I find files on my computer, I always use Agent
Ransack.

I dont have any real beef with native xp search .. or even WS 4.0 - although
I dont love them. WS in XP does its job though and I hardly use it anyway. I
use google usually to find rogue file directories... ie an application dll.
Its quicker.

I hardly use any search on my system and I think its quicker to find most
files using google.. like a rogue spp .DLL.. there are so many "Hijack This"
posts that you could essentially find ANY file directory in less than .7
seconds..

But my major point was Where is Microsoft when it comes to this when their
online search engine cant even find one of its most prized downloads?

If Internet Explorer 7 is far to reach on their own system, what trust does
that instill on the public? Try searching "Internet Explorer 7" from
different search engines..

Microsoft Download cente

Googl

Google is the most clear and relevant. We all know that but to search for a
download WITHIN MS downloads to produce ZERO results.. well thats a big boo
boo.

I like XP, I like Office 2007 and I like some other apps like Visual and
Expression Studio but They should stick to Operating Systems as a primary,
environmental data execution.. thats where they make their money but their
best product is 8 years old... Time to regroup guys, its spread too thin.

none. No promotion can fix that (a prize won every hour)

Well said, the point here for all those who are mentioning firefox is that if
you use IE to go and try to download a new version of IE from the official
microsoft website, it sends you to a search page with no resaults. This is
absolutly PATHETIC and shows why microsoft is a COMPLETE JOKE of a company
that I wish would get their acts together before I go on a killing rampage
from another windows error.
