Microsoft Outlook compatibility with Windows Vista Home Basic

Hi guys,

Just a couple of quick questions I'm hoping that someone can help me out with:

1. I'm trying to get Outlook 97 to work with my Vista computer, but so far
it's a no-go. I just get a message whenever I try to open it that says,
'Cannot start Microsoft Outlook'

I've tried running the program as an administrator, setting program
compatibility mode to all the previous operating systems, and disabling the
aero glass interface. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the program on
several occasions, and have installed all the latest patches that I'm aware
of (which I think is up to SR2-b), but still no luck.

So I'm wondering, has anyone else out there had any luck in getting Outlook
97 to run on any version of Windows Vista? If so, how?

Or if anybody has any ideas that I haven't tried yet, I'd love to hear them.

2. Does anyone know where I can get a listing of which versions of
Microsoft Office (specifically, Outlook) are compatible with Windows Vista?

Purchase Outlook 2007. Outlook 97 is considered
an obsolete, 10 year program. It does not make any
sense to have a modern operating system like Vista
trying to run software designed to run on an old
operating system.
