I want to buy a pda either Dell or Palm Pilot and I'm almost possitive it
won't be compatible with this stupid Vista. Does anyone know if they are if
so, how would I go about installing the CD's that come with the PDA? Do you
know if they is probably patches to? Also, I haven't been able to hook up my
printer to this new computer because it isn't compatible with VISTA:( I just
can't stand this new program I wish they would of let me get windows xp when
I got my new laptop instead of vista I can't believe how many problems I've
had with it even my digital camera isn't compatible with it. Hope some one
can help!!!

a Dell pocket PC will sync fine with Vista, and I believe Palms newest
devices and Software is fully Vista compliant. If you buy used equipment,
beware as older PocketPC's and Palms may not be compatible. also note that
while Dell's Axims are terrific devices, they have discontinued them so they
are at their end of life as far as updates.
as far as your digital camera goes? doesn't your camera use a memory card ?
What part of putting a memory card in a card reader is not vista compatible?
and if your printer won't work with Vista, blame your printer mfg for not
bothering to write a vista compatible driver. I have 5 different printers,
(3 HP's 1 Canon and 1 Epson) at home and all print fine from Vista.

Dear Jen:

I am using my four year old Palm Treo, connecting with Palm Desktop
under Vista. I did have to download a new Palm Desktop from the Palm
site, but I would assume that the newer one is on the CDs now being sold.

Printers are a problem. I took a deep breath and just loaded the newest
(non-vista compatible) driver on my vista computer, and it works fine.
The only drawback is that when I need to print double-sided, and the
printer needs to communicate with me that it is time to reload the
paper, my vista computer goes into some sort of backwards "interactive
compatibility mode" for me to deal with the printer, and when I am done
I am back where I started. Other than that, no problem.

I have a Canon Rebel XTi, drivers are easily available for Vista. But I
find that if possible, it is almost always better on ANY system to use a
card reader to deal with digital photography. Hooking the camera
directly up to the computer is error-prone even in other operating
systems. In any event, several USB Card Readers I have all have Vista
Drivers. In fact the generic driver that came with the O/S works fine
with them.

Hope this helps!

it worked.

Did you have any problems with the download from Palm. I cannot get the
download for my Tungsten E to install on my new Vista machine. Comes up with
a caching issue with the installer.
