Just today when I tried to open my outlook it will not open says I need to
run scanpst.exe, and use inbox repair tool. I can find scanpst file, but
will not fix my problem. I am afraid that I have lost all me e-mail
addresses and contact information. Can I recover this information somehow?

Thanks,

Lee

When I did a search from start menu for scanpst.exe it did not find the file.
I went in through programs and found an application file named scanpst. I
double clicked on it an box came up. I typed in the
following:C:\users\leemiracle\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook, and the
response was file does not exist.

C:\users\leemiracle\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook.pst
(That assumes your default data file is named outlook.pst)

You have to search to include hidden for scanpst.exe, or any pst files, with
outlook closed when you start scanpst.exe, if you select browse the default
pst location should open

when I search for personal folder, I get almost everything I have stored on
my PC including e-mail message, jpegs, word files, etc, but cannot open an
e-mail message. Also, I can find the Outlook application file when searching
through program files, but when trying to get to in the repair tool browse
function, it does not show. What would happen if I uninstalled Outlook and
re-installed it?

Thanks

I have partially resolved the issue. My PC was setup as Lee being an
Administrator, and then there is another Lee Miracle, also as Administrator.
I went in as Lee and tried Outlook, and it did not work, so I found
scanpst.exe, and ran it. it found some errors and asked if I wanted to fix
them, I said, yes. It fixed them, and my e-mail downloaded. I logged out of
Lee and logged into Lee Miracle, and tried the same thing. I got a message
that said that the Lee Miracle file was a read only file and I could not
repair it. Lee and Lee Miracle are designated as Administrators, but I could
only login as Lee and change Lee. I tried to change the lee Miracle, and was
told it was read only. How can I change this from a read only? I believe
that if I can do that, then I can repair the problem. It would not be such
an issue, but all of my e-mail address and contact information are stored in
the lee Miracle file. Can you please help me to resolve this?

Thanks,

Lee
