I try to open Outlook 2007. I get a message ",,,Errors have been detected in
the file C:Documents and Settings\Don\Local Settings\Application
Data\Outlook\Outlook.pst. Quit Outlook and all mail enablemd applications,
and then use the inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair
errors in the file..." I run scanpst but it does not complete. I cnnot open
Outlook. I also had a message previous to this problem to delete some
messages, but when I tried to I could not delete any. Any suggestions how I
can get Outlook to open and correct the problem?

You can but run scanpst several times to see if it fianally manages to
repair
You might also want to run the hd checking utility available on your hd
manufacturers site

One thing, if you upgraded to 2007 from an earlier version did you create a
new unicode data file? or are you using the same file origonally created in
a pre 2003 version of Outlook?
If so what is the size of the data file? as earlier version file format has
a size limitation.

There are also third party repair tools

I am not sure scanpst did the trick after running it two times. I ws able to
open Outlook, but I cannot delete old messages as it asks me to do.

I did upgrade from 2003 to 2007. Outlook shows 2007 version, but I remember
a message that Outlook was maxed out and it said I should install ver 2003???
I had 2003 and upgraded to 2007.

Also, I am not sure what the unicode data file is and I do not remember
anything being created. I dod import my existing emils and contacts though.

Within Outlook, rt click Personal Folders>Properties>Advanced
If for Format it says 97 - 2002 its the old format, and you may have reached
size limitation.
Should that be the case, check the size of the data file and refer to this
article
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=296088

If not close Outlook, run scanpst several more times.

Hold down the Shift button while you delete the messages. That will bypass
the Deleted Items folder. After deleting what you don't need, compact the
PST by right-clicking its root in the Navigation Pane, choosing Properties,
clicking Advanced, then Compact Now. This should reduce the size of the
PST.

I had 2003 and upgraded to 2007.

Souns like you have an ANSI (old format) PST. Time to create a Unicode PST
to avoid this problem in the future.
