Microsoft Optical wireless mouse &wireless multimedia keyboard

Jack Whelan

Connected receiver to PC and both mouse and keyboard
function OK. Some functions on the keyboard do NOT function

When I tried to install the software [which I presume will
make the above nonfunctioning keys function] it failed to
finish the installation on 2 or 3 occasions.

The first message for the keyboard read;
Microsoft IntelliType Pro 2.2 setup;
error1101 reading from file;
C:\Windows\Temp\_is60F5\1033.MST
Verify file exists and that you can access it

The message for the mouse read;
Microsoft 4.1 install info;
error 1101. error reading from file;
C:\Windows\Temp\_isBIE6\1033.MST
verify file exists and can be read

On each installation try the legend between
Temp\_ & \1033. changed.

You should be posting your Win9x related issues in a Win9x help group.

But since you asked..

First of all, that error only occurs in Windows 9x and 2k with outdated
versions of the Intellipoint/Intellitype software.

The error is explained here
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q329354

A newer revision of the Intellitype/Intellipoint software has been provided
to workaround that issue for Win9x OS' and it can be found here

Intellipoint 4.12
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2a-61be-4072-abe2-e3fc3aa0eee6&DisplayLang=en

Intellitype 2.22
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...29-84c7-4f82-a7fd-0f56e1612f85&DisplayLang=en

Inbox drivers that come with hardware products are usually out of date. You
should always check to see if updated versions have been released at the
manufacturer's website.
