I just got a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 1000

It has special buttons for launching programs, like
mail, Internet browser, msn/im client, media player

BUT when I use these buttons to launch the programs
they start out of focus (not raised to the top) and
I have to switch to then (click or ALT-TAB). Why?

Is there any way to make programs start focused
(the "Calculator" button DOES start "calc" focused)?

With most Microsoft hardwares, the "enhanced" features usually would
required the "advanced" drivers and not just the default drivers in
Windows. Since it is a keyboard, locate, download and install the
Intellitype drivers.

They are installed. Latest version. And I have checked the
configuration in the Control Panel. Everything is OK.

And all buttons DOES launch the right programs (as they should).
(other buttons work OK to; play, skip, stop, volume control)

The problem is that the programs that are launched does not get raised
to the top and get focus (they open not "selected" in the taskbar, and
are hidden behind the other programs)...

An example. Now I am using my mail-program.
If I hit the "web browser" button the keyboard the web-browser starts,
and appears in the taskbar, but as "not selected" and the mail program
still remains on top as the uppermost and active application.
To switch to the web-browser I must click in the taskbar.

The whole point of having a key to launch a program must be to make it
easier. But when the program launches in the background it not easy
:)

So what could cause this (registry setting, policy, missing service)?

Does MS have a support-mail for questions like this btw?

How or where did you check the driver for the keyboard.A few years ago
microsoft reset the mouse & keyboard properties in device mgr.,the drivers
are actually found now in "Human Interface Hardware",the two still have solo
properties in device mgr,but the current are in human interface. Also, keyboard
downloads do not currently show a "Wireless Keyboard 1000",which isnt a huge
deal as in the installation youre required to select which keyboard type
you have.
Sure you installed the right software,go to:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=MK
And select youre product.
