Microsoft iexplorer and updates

B

Bob London, KY

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can tell me where I may find (If at all) a place
to download iexplorer, and some updates? I would like to download the
whole thing, and put it on CD. Microsoft gets one to open it now instead
of downloading all of it. If there a place where I can get it all instead
of opening it now? I am on cable, and it shouldn't take to long to
download it.

Thank you very much

Maybe I don't understand something. I went to the above, and here is what
I finally see.

Download

Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1
479 KB file
2 min @ 28.8 Kbps

This is the file that wants you to install it from the internet. I am not
interested in that. I would like to down load the whole thing. Approx. 85
mega bytes. Then put it on a cd. same thing for the windows updates. Is
this possible to do?

Thank you for your reply

Thanks Steven. I am downloading v5.5sp2 right now. Didn't see v6 there
though. Would you know anything about being able to download the windows
updates? Not installing them from the internet, but downloading, and
install later. Put them on CD and have them in case one would have to
reinstall their system.

Thank you for your reply!

First...... it's alot more stable
Second....... it loads things a heck of alot quicker
Third...... it doesn't crash half as much
Fourth.... you can easily remove it
Fifth...... the Java is installed with it as standard, saving the time
needed for 6.x users to go to the Sun site and download Java.
....... need I go on?.

Your welcome ;o)

6.0 is there, believe me .... (see John's reply for the direct URL to it)

As for the Windows updates, they aren't available as a "one file download".
However, if your quick (they're removed tomorrow), you can download them
from the Windows Update library (be prepared to spend alot of time
selecting, then downloading them).

Microsoft are apparently thinking of releasing a CD containing the updates.
However, at present, nothings official.

Here for IE, various versions. Updates you can get at Microsoft.

First...... it's alot more stable

5.5 is inherently unstable, and causes instability problems within Windows.
Second....... it loads things a heck of alot quicker

Quicker than what?
Third...... it doesn't crash half as much

Mine crashed if I looked at it funny.
Fourth.... you can easily remove it

Really? IE 5.5 was the one that shipped with the uninstall feature
disabled.
Fifth...... the Java is installed with it as standard, saving the time
needed for 6.x users to go to the Sun site and download Java.
...... need I go on?.

The Microsoft Java machine is garbage. Why do you think they gave users the
option of using Sun Java for IE 6?

Those are subjective statments.

Than any other version of IE

You can either...... do it manually, or via IEradicator

The Microsoft Java machine is garbage. Why do you think they gave users the

Aren't they the same thing?

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/download.asp
This only the downloader. It should tell you will be able to save IE to
your HD after. At least it did two weeks ago.
Some of the IE patches here.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/Top10.asp
Also go to critical updates at the bottom of that page.
There was a thread in here about saving all to disk
