microsoft email

can anyone tell me if microsoft are sending out e mails
in connection with the virus, as i've just recieved an e
mail with a "patch.exe" and instructions to load straight
away. can anyone tell me if this is really from
microsoft?

No, they don't send email out with attachments. They always refer you to a
official site under their control.

thank you for the reply,
i didn't think they did so i deleted the attachment
before i opened it. it was the " .exe" in the attachment
that made me suspicious.

Rik,
The E-mail is not from Microsoft. The so-called patch is a Virus and/or
Worm. Do not open it and delete promptly. Microsoft does not send programs
of any kind via E-mail attachments. What did your anti-virus program
indicate?
