microsoft driver for usb2 support

hello.has any body downloaded the official driver from
microsoft for usb2 support.the hotfix i have(q312370) was
obtained from the packardbell support site,and doesnt
work.
i read somewhere if you have a usb2 card installed the
update section will detect the card,thus allowing the
download.is this ture .when i installed my belkin card no
update was available,just my luck.
any links or suggestions appreciated.

hi jerry,thanks for the reply.a number of users have all
stated the same "install xp sp1",if only it was that
easy.for some odd reason the updates cause my pc to run
slow.system restore doesnt help so out comes the recovery
disc.this has happened twice.
like i said i was looking for a separate download,just
for the usb2 driver.somewhere out in cyberspace the
driver must be available,but where.

Define slow? Slightly slower, half as slow, very very slow!
It s relative.

After installing SP1, do a Defrag as replacing 100Mb of system files
will fragment files and make the dllcache out of date as well so it
will take a few days of use before it will improve.

Updating device drivers as well will help as well, as those on the
restore disk will be out of date.
