Problem with Belkin USB2 cardbus PC card - F5U222

Computer is Compaq Presario 701 FR notebook with
Microsoft Windows XP 5.1.2600 SP1 build 2600. It has one
type I/II/III PC card slot with support for 32 bit cardbus

When I insert the card I get error message "Texas
Instruments PCI-1410 Cardbus Controller... the firmware
on the system is not configured to allow the cardbus
controller to run in cardbus mode".

Plug and Play doesn't run so there is no chance to
install the drivers supplied by Belkin.

How do I change the configuration?

Will the Belkin USB2 card run with this hardware /
software configuration? Can you advise what I should do
to resolve the problem?

This may help. I have the same card (Belkin F5U222) with Toshiba Satellite
and Win XP Pro updated to SP1. All I need to do is plug the card into the
slot and Windows recognizes the card and loads the appropriate USB2 driver.
I would think that is all you need to do.

As a suggestion, go to Device Manager and delete all entries under Universal
Serial Bus. Shut down, insert the card and reboot. The machine should
reload the USB drivers suitable for the Card.

Good luck
