Microsoft AntiSpyware beta verion will not update

I downloaded the latest Microsoft Antispyware beta version 1.0.701.
However, I cannot get the definitions to update. When I click on file to
"check for updates," it says: "Warning, could not connect to the Internet!"
It has not done this before, as I was able to update the definitions. The
internet is working fine. Any ideas?

Is there a manual download for the definitions?

Saw this same behavior on a notebook being repaired this morning.
Version 1.0.701 was just downloaded from MS's site. I went over
and checked the update on another PC and it had no issues with a
update check. Coincidence ? I finally just downloaded the stand
alone update modules and did it manually. The notebook didn't have
any other web issues, just kept saying unable to access Internet.

Manually replace the existing definition files, with those above in the

It was a temporary problem with Microsoft servers. It's fixed now.
Had you wasted time reading about BETA on Google, you still
wouldn't have solved the issue. It was beyond your control. I
updated MS antispyware BETA an hour ago and it worked fine.

December, now Giant has been installled whenever it is autoupdating I loose
my IE settings (auto detect LAN) and cannot log on to the internet. So have
tow ait until the update is installed and ascan run, then restart again. I'm
running XP Prof on a Dell with a wireless router connection. Anyone esle
having probelms? When is the 'real' MSASW Defender coming out?
