MICROSOFT AntiSpyware Beta does not work

Guys I am extremely pissed of about this Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta which
does not work. I currently have a brand new computer running windows XP
professional, office professional. I recently downloaded Microsoft
AntiSpyware Beta version 1.0.701. I understand that this software is still
being tested however I feel that this software is not working and I certainly
would expect better quality than that from Microsof. I have auto configure
turned on and my computer scans for spyware and checks for updates every day.
I noticed that several adds continue to appear on my computer even after
installing the software. I used a temporary solution program called Trends
Micro to scan my computer and it said that I have 25 items classified as
cookie & 21 items classified as Adware on my computer. Why is Microsoft
AntiSpyware Beta version 1.0.701 not detecting any of the addware cookies
problems on my computer? I also have Norton Internet Security version 2005
installed on my computer which does not detect SpyWare. Â

You are confusing between cookies and spyware. all cookies are not spyware,
most of them are harmless.

Use Crap Cleaner of ccleaner.com (freeware) to get rid of crap.

I have both MSAS and Norton Antivirus and when I run both MSAS detects
nothing and NAV detects 7 spyware. What's with that?

The problems with Norton don't belong in this NG. Also, at the present time
MSAS does nothing sbout cookies--hopefully it will in Beta2.

Steps to take if you have spyware that is not removed by Microsoft Windows
AntiSpyware (betª)
1) Open up AntiSpywªre
2) Click Tools at the tºp
3) Click "Submit a Suspected Spyware Repºrt"
4) Fill out the form with as much detail so they can anªlyze quickly.

Please ensure you are doing this under a Administrator accºunt.

Check windows updates for your OS to make sure you have the latest security
patches and service packs instªlled :

Have you tried the cleaning running in safe mºde?

Download the following and run a thorough scan in safe mºde:

NOTE: Make certain to update every app before booting into Safe Mode since
you WILL NOT have access to the Internet from Safe Mºde.

Spybot S&D - http://www.safer-networking.org/

Make certain to not to select any of the pernament protection for Spybot and
DO NOT immunize the system, as this can interfere with WD' Real-tme
Protectiºn.

SpywareBlaster - www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload.html
JavaCool's free SpywareBlaster automatically adds a lengthy list of
dangerous addresses to IE's Restricted sites. SpywareBlaster is compatible
with AOL's browser; it also works with current versions of the Netscape,
Firefox, and Mozilla browsers. Its most recent iteration is SpywareBlaster
3.4.

Ccleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com

If you are running SP2, open IE--->Tools--->Manage Add-ons, and uncheck any
BHO's that you don't recºgnize.
You can also use the System Explorers in Microsoft Antispyware to look at
BHO's and block them--it also shows known and unknown fºr BHO's..

If it was really spyware then MS Antispy would detect some part of it when
it scanned, Microsoft already offer's alot of choice regarding cookies and
they are not a threat to your system as they contain no code.

Clear all your cookies then test the other applications and see if they
still find prºblems.

You can delete cookies easily by going to start menu > C:/drive > Documents
and Settings > YourUsername > Cookies and opening that folder.
Delete any you dont want from there.

Another option is open a IE browser window and go to
tools on the top bar, choose Internet Options then press delete cººkies.

Third option is from the same page (Internet Options) press the Privacy Tab
and click Advanced - Here you can block and restrict cookies getting onto the
system but they are very usefull to remember settings & usernames on sites so
only restrict third party cookies if you use that optiºn.

If you think the other applications are finding Spyware/Adware that MS
Antispy isnt detecting then post the scan results from each scªnner.

For Spybot, click Recovery to list what has been removed except cººkies

For Ad-Aware, Click the lock icon from the main menu and open the Quarantine
files.

For SpySweeper, Click Results then Session Lºg.

Hi look on the net for forums showing spyaxe malware
this is launching lots of rubish including msserchnet.exe mscornet.exe
I found if you collect a list of the malware files . use msconfig to stop
all but the minimum prosesses and set to restart in safe mode. remove all
suspect files [wachout for svchosts.dll] there is a correct file svchost.dll
which is a good microsoft one. it the S on the end that the rouge. when all
done load and run Adware and spybot links on Microsofts site. disconnect from
the internet and remove your antivirus and reload it. My Norton was corupted
by one of these loaded malwares and appeared ok but parts were not working
such as single file scaning
hope this helps.

have emailed microsoft about spyaxe they did not seem to want to know.
