Hi there from the UK and wonder if anyone can help me.

I cant get my computer to switch off after shut down. After trying a lot of
advice and research, I find that the Microsoft acpi driver is missing. I
believe you need this to complete a full shut down and switch off.

I am running XP home. Can you obtain this driver somewhere.

Thanks

Hi John,
Read these links and you may need to reinstall your Video card driver or the
motherboard if the video card is integrated in the MB:

"It is Now Safe to Turn Off Your Computer" error message when you try to
shut down your computer

Hi Nass

Thanks for the advice. I have followed KB810903 to the letter and have not
solved the problem

One thing I have found is that Microsoft ACPI driver is missing.

I think that that is the crux of the matter. How to re-install that driver?
Well that is another matter............

John,
Try to copy it from the CD to this path on your computer or from another
machine the same as your's.
C:\Windows\System32\drivers copy it in the drivers folders and then Reboot.
Another run the sfc /scannow from the Run command and get your XP CD handy
to insert it in if the system prompted you to do so.
HTH.
Let us know.
