Hi everybody,
I need your help. I got the blue screen. It said something about
system files. Now, the computer does not work. It goes into some
kind of cycle. It goes through all the booting procedures, until it
comes to a black screen which asks something like this: if you want
to start window in the normal mode, safe mode, safe mode with command
line, safe mode without net word or recover to the best last
configuration. During this, there is a count down from; I think 29
to 0 and all start again. Can someone help? I do not want to lose my
programs and files.

Please post a copy of the Stop Error Report.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

An alternative is to keep pressing the F8 key during Start-Up and select
option - Disable automatic restart on system failure.

If you are using a wireless keyboard and the F8 key does not work
substitute a wired keyboard and mouse for this exercise only.

Hope this helps.

Hi everybody again,
I did what Gerry told me and I have this in a blue screen:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.

The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI complaint. Please contact your
system vendor or visit www.hardware-update.com for an updated BIOS. If you
are unable to obtain an updated BIOS or the latest BIOS supplied by your
vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode
setup. To do this, simply, press F7 key when you are prompted to install
storage drivers. The system will not notify you that F7 key was pressed- it
will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue your installation

What is your computer make and model? Did you buy the computer new or in

What operating system was on the computer previously?

I have Compaq which is made by HP. But we did not use the software that
came with it; we used our own Win XP.

Gerry,

To answer all your questions. The Computer bought new, long time before.
We changed the mother board under warranty (compaq motherboard) before.
Compaq software was installed, but we used our own Win XP more than a year
ago. In other words we did not use the original software that came with
computer.

Sorry for using different thread.
