hello I no longer see .mht files as thumbnails in windows explorer...

I used to be able to see them...

I have tried using the reg file from kellys-corner.com

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm line 162 but with no results

this USED to work.. but it doesnt now..

could this be a IE7 problem? Because it worked when I had IE6

THANK YOU

Hello Spocks Buddy,

First of all. NEVER EVER just click on a registry file & enter the data into
the registry. Just because its comes from the Internet doesn't mean its
safe.

Luckily for you, all that registry file does is to re-associate Windows
Explorer with that extension but it also changes many others which I guess
you were unaware of. avi, mpg, mpeg, art, pcx, eps, mht, eml, nws, htm, html,
url

This type of registry fix can be found all over the Internet

Broken Windows Explorer Thumnails/Image Previews:

http://www.maths.soton.ac.uk/~ap/windows/

Yes, that site mentions 2000 but its the same for XP

Here's a simple search to find loads more references about repairing file
associations:

As you rightly say this is possibly an IE7 issue therefore posting it in the
IE General Newsgroup may also get you the reasoning behind the issue

hello I am very familiar with the reg from the site, in fact I have been
using lots of them for years,
I have opened them to see what they do and know exactly what they do...
that is not a proble... I am not a newbie... :)

In fact not only am I aware of, but I extend the entries in that reg file to
create my own,
when I want explorer to show other media files as thumbnails.

Also if you see my post I did cross post to the internet explorer
newsgroup... lol

The page you sent me had nothing that works correctly or that I did not know
already.

Thank you for your reply and time

Spocks,

The page I sent you is basically the same as in that reg file. So, if it my
info was no good then neither is the reg file off that site

If you are so good with registry then go to the Microsoft site & into the
registry guide & you will find every key explained.

No, I wasn't looking to see if you cross posted that - sorry but people with
IE questions should only post there
