messenger...and other processes

I use msn messenger a little....some friends I need to keep up with
are on it all the time.
BUT when I am done I can't close it.
Other processes are using it.

How can i use it when I need it but turn it off when I am finished.
Without turning off the computer that is.

Don't go to your Hotmail online page.

If using Outlook Express, disable Contacts pane (View>Layout).
