I'm having the same problem. There's one message there with error "Message
could not be displayed
Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this
message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again."
I can't delete it, and it seems to be blocking later outgoing messages.
Where are the tutorials you reference?

I just tried downloading & installing a KXXXXXXX fix, but the message
continues to stay in my Outbox & says there's been a problem
encountered....or some such thing. Can't send anything. Does this have
anything to do with my current Virus program? Who has fixed this problem?
Thanks.

If you are running McAfee or Norton antivirus, that could well be the
source of your problem. Windows Mail is not compatible with
most McAfee and Norton security programs. Those will need to
be uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

Hi!

OK, "in the old days" with OE the main reason for this Outbox stucking was
the overloaded Sent Items, i.e. up to maximum 2.1GB ...

So, the simple cure for this was to get the Sent Items partly emptied
transferring a good portion of it to another/new folder inside OE.

Best regards,

Pete V.

Most of the people who respond here refuse to answer by email.

You'll get more help if you show the entire error messages, not just say
you had some.

Are the messages you try to send staying in the Outbox?

I have one message I am trying to send but got stuck in my outbox. The error
message reads:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Geneology',
Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '550 5.1.1 <[email protected]> recipient invalid domain',
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

All the rest of my email has been going out ok using windows mail, vista and
comcast. I double checked the address I am sending to but the problem seems
to be the recepient server is somehow blocked? I can't find an answer in the
help troubleshoot search how to fix it. I am not sure I should tamper with
the server settings which has been working good for the past year.

tetwest.net is apparantly not registered in the DNS server, or at least not
registered long enough for your email server to be able to use the DNS
server to know where to find it. Therefore, addresses there are
unreachable.
A few sites get a false address in the DNS server, but usually only if they
are known for sending out spam or viruses.

Hi Chris,

Did you receive any error messages? If so, can you post a copy here so
we will know how to best help you on this.

In the mean time, try this:
Read the "First" section in this tutorial about antivirus programs to
help prevent this from happening again, then install the KB941090
Microsoft Update in the "Second" section to fix the stuck message
problem.

The error message is quite self-evident. There is no such domain
as "tetwest.net".

People sending me e-mail have included attachments. I receive the e-mail
okay but no attachments are included. I have recently begun using Vista and
probably have not set it up correctly. Help!

I've read that this happens if they put your address on the Bcc: line when
they send the mail.

Otherwise, click on Tools, then Options, then Read. If there is a check
mark in the box before Read all messages in plain text, click on this box
and then Apply. Click on OK.

In addition to what Robert advised you to do, also go to Tools,
Options, Security, and uncheck "Do not allow attachments..."
and uncheck "Block images..."

I just got this new system for Christmas and cannot send messages-This is
the error message I'm receiving-Thanks in advance for your help...
The host 'SMTP' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly.
Subject 'Hey', Account: 'POP3', Server: 'SMTP', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

"SMTP" is not a valid mail server name.
You will need to get the correct mail server names from your mail provider.
They will have a web page with instructions on how to set up your email account.
Or you can tell us who your mail provider is, and we will look up that information.

If the mail was sent from Outlook using Outlook's RTF format then Windows
Mail will never find the attachment. Windows Mail does not understand
Outlook's RTF format. Ask the Outlook user to please use Plain Text,
especially when sending attachments.

windows mail - vista home premium 32. since yesterday, all the messages i
send stay in my outbox. can't delete or move them, can't even view some of
them. from phoning recipients, i think the messages have actually gone. found
a download on microsoft technical help which has allowed me delete some from
the outbox but hasn't fixed the problem - new messages i write still stay in
the outbox. incoming mail is fine. my anti-virus doesn't scan outgoing and i
haven't got any norton or mcafee on my pc. i'm not a hugely experienced user
and i'm stuck now. HELP

A recent Trend antivirus program also causes problems in Windows Mail.
Many other antivirus programs should have all email scanning disabled, not
just for outgoing messages.

Can you delete the oldest message in the Outbox?

What did you download? If it wasn't this, download and install it with
Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or
the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first.

On your end or at at the server? If it's on your end, click on Tools,
then Accounts, then your email account, then Properties, then Servers.
Click at the end of the password marks, then backspace over them,
then type your correct password. Click on Apply, then OK, then
Close.
