messages stuck in outbox

Everything was fine last night, not this AM-probably Windows did an auto
upgrade and now Im all messed up. Windows Mail with Vista. No support from
Gateway or Microsoft. All messages currently stuck in the outbox. I can
receive but not send. Any ideas without going to through the ISP and sending
through their server?
Ready to go to Apple.

Do you have your system backed up to an external hard drive or elsewhere?

Here is what I did. I restored, Windows Mail only, to a date that Windows
Mail was working properly. Then I used Steve's utility (go to
www.oehelp.com/wmutil) to compact my
e-mail. Plus I compact my e-mail every time the dialog box appears.
