Messages queued in Outbox disappear when Outlook is restarted

The subject says it all.

Running SBS2003. client is Outlook 2003. All is running fine. One client has
had this happen to her twice now.

she is working all day and realizes that none of her emails have gone out.
All of them are sitting in the Outbox. Can't get them to go. Calls me.

I check and try Send/Receive, check connection, check settings, open up an
email to see if perhaps she used a different profile - nothing. All seems
fine. So I figure, restart Outlook and see what happens. Go back in after
Outlook restarts and all the emails in the Outbox are gone. And I don't mean
Sent. No record of any of them. I look on the server's queue, check the
message tracking, check antivirus, in the delete folder, everywhere. The
messages are gone !!

This is the 2nd time this has happened to her and I can't figure out why or
what is causing this.

Has anyone seen anythign like this before?

HELP!!!
