On the users screen it says I have an unread e-mail but
the e-mail does not exist so I can't get rid of that
reminder.Any ideas? Thanks

Download and install tweakui for xp and use its repair mail count feature or
use it to turn the mail count off completely.

Or edit the registry and delete the mail accounts you don't want:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail
