Hi! I've been dealing with the following issue for a couple of weeks now.
When the user tries to create a new email message, forward an email, or
create a task, she gets the following Microsoft Office Outlook window box:
"The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists, restart outlook."
I have uninstalled then reinstalled Outlook 2003. The current version of
Outlook 2003 shows 11.5608.5606--which I believe is current.
When I click on the File, Data File Management, nothing happens--as if the
button doesn't work. On other workstations, it shows the Archive Folder in
the box.
When I click on Tools, Email Accounts, OR Tools, Options, Email Accounts I
get the following Microsoft Office Outlook box:
"The operation failed due to a registry or installation problem. Restart
Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, please reinstall."
I have done this several times. I've cleaned up the registry in between the
uninstall/reinstall.
Some helpful history:
- We are running SBS2003 (exchange 2003) with Outlook 2003.
- We upgraded from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003 almost a year ago and
everything was fine.
- This problem just started occurring on 1/31 workstations.
Any help would be tremendously appreciated.
