Message Could Not Be Displayed Error/E-mail Stuck in Outbox

I have a new laptop with Vista and Windows Mail.
We just switched to Hughes.net satellite and during the switch, I was having
some difficulty getting my e-mail set up. I fixed it all, but I have ONE
message that could never be sent and it seems to be stuck in my outbox. When
I try to send it, I get:

Message could not be displayed
Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this
message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again.

I can't delete the message, move it or send it. Any ideas?
Thanks so much,

Lisanne

Welcome to the club!
If you'll read the other posts in this newsgroup you'll see that
many are having this problem. There's not much you can do about it.
If it gets to the point where the stuck message prevents you from
sending, you may want to look into using an alternate email program,
at least until such time as Microsoft comes out with a permanent fix.

Yes that is a very good question. What email program are you using with
Vista? I have two computers going just to get to Outlook Express...and when
does anyone know when Microsoft will come out with a fix? I have a message
stuck in the outbox and it is preventing me from sending any emails out. I
have read all of the posts so far..uninstalled windows mail twice and
nothing....checked all my settings and they are fine...going to stop trying
now because it seems like there is nothing you can do until this fix comes
out which I hope is soon...Wow this system has something to be desired...

Actually, I'm still using Windows Mail in spite of getting an occasional
error message. If you have access to a copy of Outlook 2003 or 2007,
that would work well under Vista. Otherwise, download the free
Thunderbird program: http://www.mozilla.com

Try removing your mail account, closing and reopening WinMail, and then see
if you can delete the offending message. If so, the add your account back
again.

This "message could not be displayed" appears on Email messages after they
are transferred to a foulder. Cannot read Email after it is sent to a folder.

From Monty - Try the following format, it worked for me and is quite
simple to do

1) Close winmail and press control, alt and delete together to bring up
task manager. Check Task Manager under 'applications' and 'processes' to
ensure winmail is deleted.

2) Go to start/search/advanced search. Tick box to include 'non-indexed,
hidden and system files'

3) In name field type: windowsmail.msmessagestore and click search button

4) Delete both copies offered leaving winmail shortcut copy if shown

5) Reopen winmail in normal way

The offending messages have been removed and your current messages should
reappear under the file 'Recovered Messages'
Hope this is of some help to you
