Stuck e-mail in Outbox

I

Ian McMillan

Hi all,

Has anyone came across a stuck e-mail in the Outbox before?

This is stopping me from sending any e-mails at all now.

The rogue e-mail shows:

Message could not be displayed
Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this
message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again.

Even after closing Windows Mail, deleting the Outbox folder completely
within Windows Explorer, and rebooting the same problem still exists.

Anyone got any ideas at all please?

Thanks,
Ian

I had the same problem ("send and receive" wouldn't work once I'd written a
new email and clicked send. it would just go to the outbox and would only be
sent if you closed windows mail and opened it again) and downloaded that
update - the first time I used windows mail after installation and new start
it was fine, but when I closed the programme opened it and tried sending an
email again it wouldn't work. What's happening? And what other alternatives
are there when the 941090 update doesn't help?

I use Avast, which shouldn't really interfere - should it?
I tried installing the update you menitioned and the first time I opened
Windows Mail after restarting the computer it did indeed work - but when I
closed Windows Mail, opened it again later and tried to send an email it was
back to its old tricks.
Thanks for your help though, and if there are other things I could try I'd
be grateful for further advice!

The KB941090 fix should always work if the problem is a stuck
(undeletable & unmovable) email. If the problem is something
else, it needs to be described in detail, complete with any error
messages.

Stuck emails can keep occurring if the cause for that problem
has not been corrected. In most cases the cause is an
incompatible antivirus, or even a compatible antivirus that has
been configured to scan emails.
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee
or Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see
