Message by User Name on Start Up

An "unread emails" message appears by my user name icon when i start up the computer - this refers to my hotmail account, but although i have deleted my emails, the message wont go away. Any ideas please email me, thank you.

Download and install tweakui for xp and use its repair mail count feature or
use it to turn the mail count off completely.

Or edit the registry and delete the mail accounts you don't want:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail

Download and install the Tweak UI (3rd down on the list on the right) from:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Once that's been installed you can run it and goto the repair option and
select 'Repair unreal mail count' and click Repair Now.

You can also do lots of other neat tricks with it.
