Merging Windows NT PDC into new network ?

J

Jim Matthews

We run W2k/W2k3 servers, with AD

We are merging with a company that has a single Windows NT PDC, with 15
clients, and I would love to find a way to simply migrate this into our
network.

Of course, the issue is that it is a PDC and uses different accounts.

If I initiate an upgrade to Windows 2000 or 2003, can I "disable" its PDC
status ? or at least let it configure as a AD "backup" ?

Any ideas at all ?

Many Thanks

JM

You establish a Trust between theirs and yours. Whether you leave it as
NT40 or upgrade it to 2003 is pretty much irrelevant,..it is still just a
"flat" Trust either way.

If you do not go the way of Trusts, then you simply eliminate their Domain
and it will just no longer exist,...their is no such thing as "merging".
You would just create new user accounts on your Domain for them,..join their
workstations to your domain and do whatever "evil" things you want to do to
their old server since it would no longer have a purpose.
