Merging Domains

I have a 2 clients both with the same AD domain name (xyz.com). The Netbios Domain name is different however. The companies have purchased each other and want to merge networks. We have created a VPN between the two networks and are ready to merge both AD's into one xyz.com.

Has anyone had this issues with two companies with the same name space needing to merge their AD domains. I have setup this scenairio in our lab but I am have trouble getting at trust between the domain. ADMT 2.0 looks good but when I select XYZ as the source and ABC as the destination it errors because the AD domain names are both xyz.com.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may have to set up an "interim" domain, say abc.com, migrate users from
the one xyz.com to the abc.com domain then migrate the users from the
abc.com domain into the final xyz.com domain.

I thought of migrating to xyz.com to abc.com then abc.com to the other xyz.com but big concern is exchange?

What tools would you use? Both domains have Exchange. The first xyz.com has Windows 2000 and Exchage 2000 both in Native Mode. The second xyz.com has Windows 2003 and Exchange 2000 soon to be Exchange 2003. Both domains have SQL 2000 Servers. I think I could simple disjoin and rejoin the file and sql servers ars they are only member servers. The exchange servers are both DC as well as Exchange 2000.

Thanks!

I'm no Exchange expert so I can't comment on the issues you will run in to.
To migrate the user accounts I would use ADMT form MS.
