Merge SP2 into orig XP install CD

Tor Tveitane

Hi,

I've heard that it is possible to copy the contents of the original XP
install CD to a disk directory and merge XP SP2 into that directory and then
burn a new CD with XP-SP2 on it.

How do I do this?

regards

Tor

It is much easier to load the XP SP1 Operating system disk first, then use
the SP2 disk after you loaded the SP1 Operating systeme disk. It would create
problems with the SP 1 driver.cab files, and may not install correctly.

That would only be the case for an individual who does not know how to build
a fully bootable, slipstreamed version of WinXP with SP2. You method of
installation will leave SP1 gremlins behind that may come back to haunt
you - it is always better to do a clean install with the latest and greatest
fixes and service packs slipstreamed in to prevent installation of old out
dated system components.
