im semi-new to computer land. can you tell me the difference between physical
and virtual memory? My machine says its running on minimal memory, whats that
mean? please help

Minimal can be both, physical is ram connected to the board, virtual is
contained
on the hd,used like reg memory.To increase both,add more ram,for now,open
system properties,advanced,performance,virtual memory,change button,select
"let system manage" click set 2X,close out.

Physical is the ram cards you have installed. Virtual ram is using the
hard drive as virtual ram.

Physical memory is real memory--the RAM you have installed in your computer.
You probably have 256MB or 512MB of it.

"Virtual memory" is a slightly confusing term, since it's used differently
by different people. Some people use "virtual memory" to refer to the page
file--a file on your hard drive that can be used like memory in addition to
physical memory when there isn't enough physical memory to do all the things
you've told the computer to do. However, Microsoft's definition of "virtual
memory" is the sum total of all memory available to you--physical memory
plus the page file.
