Hi
When I bought my computer it had 128 mb ram since then I upgraded to 256 mb
ram. Now I want to upgrade again, can I put just (1) 256 mb ram or must I put
(2) 128 mb of memory sticks in ? And how do I know if it will help with my
mother board as is or must I upgrade the mother board to.
Thank You
Ed

Did you do the memory upgrade or did someone else?..THAT person would know
how the memory sticks must be, to get to, I am guessing, 512megs. Some
motherboards would require you to pull both 128s and add 2 sticks of 256 to
get to 512. The other option, if you have a manual for your mobo, (OEMs
usually don't provide that) you can refer to that section to see for
yourself what configuration is needed.
If someone else in a computer shop did the other upgrade, let them do
this one also.

An afterthought.... I have a 256 meg and a 512 for a total of 768 megs,
which to me, is an odd configuration..

What's odd about 768mb? Win98se and ME ran very well for me on a 766mhz
Celeron with that memory configuration. XP Home ran very well on the same
setup.

Curt.

Hi Ed,

Your mother-board is the determining factor as to what type/size and
configuration of RAM you can use. Either refer to the documentation for your
MB or go to the manufacturers web-site to obtain information on RAM. That
applies to OEM systems as well.

LOL, JAX
