I have 3 256meg Ram chips , they all work, and I have 3 slots, which all
work, tested them all.
I had 512Meg and got another chip at 256Meg, I added it ...
BUT my computer only sees 512m of Ram , reguardless of what order I put
the Ram chips in..
Why can't my computer see the extra 256m of ram??
I am using windows XP home
Please help
thank you

It should work with PC1600/PC2100 DDR up to 2Gb ...
BUT ... although I've looked, I don't see the manual on-
line. The manual will have detail that, try as I have, I
cannot find. YOU HAVE the motherboard manual (or you
should). Read it. What type of memory are you using ?

And it's not necessary to post 3 or 4 times in different
sections . . .

Good Luck !

If you mix dual channel memory with single channel memory, this could
happen with some motherboard.

On some motherboards, only memory slots that would support dual channel
memory (not DDR2) are normally 1 and 2. If you place such memory on the
motherboard, then port 3 is not active. Also, if you mix the memory, the
motherbaord will only see the first slot if it is dual channel.

Check your motherboard or computer manual if you have one - make sure
that all your BIOS settings for memory are correct. It may be that
your motherboard will only accept and use a certain amount of memory,
you may have to set a jumper in order for all three slots to work, and
so on. Without any further information from you, it's difficult to
gauge what's wrong.
