Memory Dump/VIAAGP1

T

The Wizard of Odd

Lately, I seem to be getting random memory dumps on my computer. The
following is from my Event Viewer's system log after the most recent
incident:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: System Error
Event Category: (102)
Event ID: 1003
Date: 2/19/2006
Time: 7:21:16 PM
User: N/A
Computer: xxxxx
Description:
Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000047, parameter2 80522362, parameter3
ed81e5a4, parameter4 00000000.

Looking a little further in the system log, I came across the following
message that was posted at approximately the same time as the above:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7026
Date: 2/19/2006
Time: 7:21:12 PM
User: N/A
Computer: xxxxx
Description:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
viaagp1

I did a search on my computer for the file viaagp1, but was unable to come
up with anything. I'm not sure I'm right about this, but I get the
impression that the error codes in the first system log entry above are
caused by the absence of this viaagp1 file (I'm not sure if the extension on
viaagp1 should be .inf or .sys; in my research on this problem, I have seen
references using both extensions).

Anyway, I guess I have two questions:

1) Are the problems described in the first event above caused by the absence
of the viaagp1 file on my computer?

2) If so, where would I download a copy of this file?

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Possibly, since this looks like a motherboard driver.
At first glance, you have a motherboard with a VIA chipset and AGP. If so
it's likely that a file is missing. If you don't have a via chipset
motherboard with AGP, the there is a possibility that there was a rogue file
at one point in time. This may also occur if the motherboard was changed, or
a configured version of windows was transplanted to another motherboard or
PC.

You need to find out basic information about your motherboard
and AGP.

This freeware programme is excellent for getting information
about your computer:
Everest Home Edition (freeware)

Tip: To copy select Report, Quick Report, Plain Text, highlight
required text, right click and select copy. However, whilst this
is fine for posting small amounts of information into newsgroup
messages longer reports will irritate other newsgroup
subscribers.

Hope this helps.
