Memory card reader

After attaching card reader to computer via usb i do not get a wizard showing
the choices as i do when i use the dig camera.Is there a setting i need to
get the same.Now if i go through my computer i can finally get the pictures
however very difficult.

It may be as simple as connecting the card reader without a card in it, wait
for XP to recognize the device and then insert your card in the card reader.
