none of the 10pack work. i know people say they are a crap make. are there
any tools i can download to get them to work?

What is the rated write speed of your CD-RW drive?
Sounds like the CDs are not compatible and are designed
for a slower CD-RW drive. Try adjusting the write speed
of your CD-RW.

Memorex are usually good quality. What burning program are you using? Maybe
you need to reinstall it.

Seconded... Memorex makes decent media. I'd also recommend that you give it
a shot with your AV turned off. The other recommendations are good - in fact
great - but another one is just to disable your AV software. Why? Because if
your AV is scanning as you're trying to burn it's more likely that you'll
create a coaster unless you're using some fairly decent hardware and able to
buffer a lot of it to RAM before burning. Enable any error correction and
any burn proof options with your burner application as well. It is possible,
though unlikely, that you simply got a bad spool. If you keep making
coasters give them a holler via email and let them know that you've been
making coasters with their media and that you can (if this is true) use
another company's media and burn just fine. They'll likely refund your money
or offer you some something like a coupon for more or a new package.

Sound more like your CD burner is a "crap make"..

I assume you are loading the cdrw's one disc at a time (and not ten at a
time).

There's a good chance your hardware might be going south. How old is your
cd burner?

i have a pavilion 453 pc, and it has a hp cd-writer: 32x10x40x.
other branded cd-rws work. i think i got a 'bad batch'.
i emailed memorex and they said i can return them, but i will return them to
the store from which i bought them.
also, i am mainly using them to create mp3 cds; should i use cd-r or cd-rw
cds?
the thing is that if i mess up a cd i thought that i can format the cd-rw
and start again rather than having loads of useless cd-rs.
also, the i tried burning using xp explorer program thing, WMP 10, and
RecordNow.

Well now... You don't have a bad batch I don't think. You might have bad
information instead...

Are you trying to burn them so that they can play in a regular CD player? I
don't think you CAN do that with RWs... For that you need Rs... For a disk
to play in a CD player it has to be finalized and RWs don't support
finalization to the best of my knowledge. Try to burn one as a data CD. Does
it work? Try a regular CDR in there to burn a music CD... Does it work?

i've tried other cd-rs and cd-rws and they work fine. as soon as i try to use
any of the memorex ones, they are not even recognised (0bytes??) and i cannot
format them, write to them, or anything. i keep on getting 'general failure'
errors when trying to format them using DLA.
i am currently using other branded cd-rws in my car mp3 cd player; no
problems.

Yip, bad spool from the sounds of things. Return them to the place you
purchased them from IF they'll allow you or else contact Memorex for
replacements. They might make you pay for shipping one way which is insane
but that's up to them. I don't have a copy of their return policy handy but
you might be able to find it on their site.
