Member Server setup

Tom

Ok, what is the setup procedure for a member server? I am
setting up a web server on a different subnet from the
domain we currently have, and was planning to make it a
member server. What does "member" exactly mean? Do I join
this server onto the domain as I would a Windows 2000 pro
machine or do I just Install the OS and leave it at that?
Would that be a standalone then? I could really use the
help here.

Thanks very much
T.

You're correct.

Member servers are servers operating within the domain (and can use domain
credentials for authentication) and would require network communication with
it's DC for domain authentication. This is similar to a workstation which
is a member of a domain.

A standalone server is a server operating outside of a domain.
