Meeting requests disappearing from Outlook 2003

Outlook 2003 , Exchange 2003 Ent SP1.

We have many users set up as delegates for their managers. Delegate access
was set through Outlook, but some delegates also have full ownership of their
o managers mailboxes.

Many users send and receive meeting requests on behalf of managers. Some
mangers have Blackberry's, the rest just have Outlook 2003. All Outlook
clients operate in Cached mode.

In some instances a meeting request is sent to say 8 people, all 8 reply
(either themsleves or their delegate does) and a response is sent back to the
meeting organiser. Of the 8 recipients, 2 will have responded but the
meeting just disappears from their calander (there are no rules set, nor is
the meeting actually deleted).

I originally thought that the problem may have been related to using Outlook
Cache mode but I have'nt been able to prove it one way or the other. Have
tried turning it off and the problem still exists.

No other items are disappearing from users mailboxes, just meetings.

Searching Technet does'nt show any known problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure if I'm understanding the problem correctly, are you saying that for
some people when they have responded to a meeting request the request is
deleted from the inbox?
If so they check Tools>Options>Email options>Advanced Email Options and
untick the 'Delete meeting request from Inbox when responding' box.

Jess, no thats not the issue. The meeting attendee accepts the meeting
request OK (as confirmed by teh meeting requestor recievinga confirmation
response) hwoever the meeting itself does not exist in the attendee's
calender.

The interesting thing is that it does'nt happen all of the time, which makes
it difficult to find a pattern to. I initially thought it was occurring with
recurring meetings, howeverf I have seen one instance of a single meeting
(although that could be to do with an Outlook rule).

Thanks for your feedback.

Morc -
I'm having a simlar problem here but so far only to 1 user. We are just
starting a rollout of Outlook and Exchange 2003 with admins setup with
delegate access to their managers databases. I have several meetings that
keep disappearing from the managers calendar. The delegate scheduled the
meeting on behalf of the manager or a delegate of another manager has
scheduled the meeting. They are repeating meetings where instances have been
rescheduled. When the delegate is viewing the managers calendar the meetings
disappears off and on. When I look at the calendars of others than have been
invited to this meeting it shows on their calendars multiple times and
sometimes on the schedules not at all.

We are running in cached as well but I haven't seen that this is the
problem. This is very similar to problems that we had with repeating
meetings in Lotus Notes which we are working to migrate off of. It's
starting to give me nightmares.

P.S. I'm not the Jess that posted earlier.

I believe I have the same issue. I am running Exchange 2000 with Outlook 2003
with cached mode enabled. Has anyone found a fix?

I think i am having either the same issue or one very similar!..

Client has created a re-occuring meeting. When she needs to make a change to
one occurance she opens this in the calendar and selects “open this
occurance†rather than “open the seriesâ€.

Once change is made to meeting and “send update†button pressed. Client
reopens calendar to see new meeting with correct changes. Meeting now showing
as busy. The problem is as follows….

On closing and reopening of MS Outlook client goes back into calendar to
find the updated meeting in her calendar has disappeared - Also the original
meeting is not in calendar either. All other attendees have the meeting
showing in their calendars’, with the correct edited updates.

Have checked Blackberry settings and no different from other clients. Have
removed any delegates on clients calendar and client not working in cached
mode.

ANY IDEAS AT ALL????

We are having the same problem but so far its only one user for me! There
is alot of them set up as delegates for their managers.

Many users send and receive meeting requests on behalf of VIPs. I also set
everyone to operate in Cached mode. When they accept a meeting it does not
stay in there calendar? I hope we can find out why this is happening..

We have the same problem here only sometimes it's the meeting organizer who
loses the meetnig from his calendar.

No patter. Our managers and their assistants run in non cached mode because
I understand there are some issues with calendars not being immediately
uptodate which can cause issues with meeting organisation for multiple
people.

Either way. It's happening for me too - anyone any ideas at all!!??
