media player wont open properly

Hi, I have been using windows media player for about a yr
now. Yesterday I tried to open it and it shows that it is
open in the bottom task bar and in task manager, but I
doesnt show it open in my desktop (it doesnt open the
screen). As such, I cannot use it. I tried reinstalling
it (since you cant really completely uninstall it) a few
times to no avail. I fear that I will have to reinstall
windows xp (which I do not want to do b/c it will take me
for ever to load all my programs again). Does anyone have
any suggestions short of reinstalling windows xp? I
appreaciate any help I can get. Thanks.

You can try a couple of procedures prior to completely reinstalling WindowsXP
First, have you tried doing a Restore of your System? You can go back up t
90 days? Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore
Next, try to repair the WMP, that may also solve the problem
