Media player update disables audio

2 of my friends have told me that after downloading the latest version of
windows media player that their computers no longer play any sound. I've
checked device manager and everything looks ok, but when i checked control
panel / sounds and audio devices - audio tab - all audio devices are greyed
out and diabled.

My friends used a ghost backup to restore their computers and now their sound
works find.

Anybody know what is causing this ?

Soundcard drivers also need updating. Go to the manufacturers website
for updates, they are free.
