Does this happen only with Media Player or with any program install? If
only with Media Player then you might want to post to the Media Player
newsgroup.

There is a media player newsgroup. Web link:

MS newsgroups on the Web:

If it happens with other program installations what is the malware status of
the computer and how do you check? Also look in Event Viewer in all logs
for any error messages. If there are some, post them back here.

Hi,
Windows Media Player (WEMP) 10 no longer plays mp3 or any other music or
video file on my PC (Windows XP). It's shows the graphics in motion, though.
Real Player and Musicmatch play music files except those exclusively for WMP..

When I try to delete WMP10 from Program Files to reinstall it later,l even
after deleting WMP from registry, this error message appears:
"Cannot delete Windows Media Player. It's being used by another person or
program."
When I reinstall WMP 10 without first deleting it, it still doesn't play
music files.
Shutting down all programs listed beforehand in Cntrl-Alt-Del doesn't help.

How do I allow WMP 10 to work?

Thanks.

Post to the media player newsgroup. The link is listed in the post you
