media player stops after loading

i have managed to get media player to start up, but after about 10 seconds
it freezes, with the music still running. i am unable to operate media player
after this and have to choose end task to stop it

can anyone help me with this problem???

WMP 9: You can reinstall it from "%systemdrive%\program files\windows media
player\installer\mpsetupxp.exe"
