Media Player not Windows Media Player

Media Player, as used by PowerPoint (mplay32.exe)to run
mpeg files won't run most mpeg 2 FILES. Is there a way
to get it to upgrade codecs, if so where?

Or is there a better way to play high res videos in PPt?

Last time i did windows update there was a codec pack to
download. You could try that.

Or usually if you try to play something you don't have a
codec for when youre on the net it will go off and find
one itself.
