Media Player does not play avi files

When I attempt to play an avi video file with Media
Player, player opens but all that displays on the screen
is the "particle" display as one would use in a screen
saver. I checked Media Player-Options- and in the File
Types tab Wundows video file avi is checked. Why can't it
play avi?
 
You have to make sure you have the proper codec installed
for avi. You can try AngelPotion Video Codec but it's
3rd party and not supported. Good Luck!
